For the last 17 years, the owners of Harrington Manor, located at 16 S. Bothwell Street at Palatine Road in downtown Palatine, have been assisting homeowners in sprucing up their décor with a wide variety of unique and out of the ordinary products and services.
The name ‘Harrington’ in Harrington Manor is derived from the maiden name of John Ruetsche’s mother. John and his wife Vicki have co-owned the business since it was originally founded in 1993 as Oneida County Livery, then located in Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Vicki and John would commute the six-hour trip from Palatine often, while Vicki’s parents, who resided in Wisconsin, ran the business full-time.
The decision was made in 2000 to move the business to the Ruetsche’s home town of Palatine, where they were raising a family. The couple now has three grown children and many grandchildren.
In 2016, Harrington Manor II was born, just across the street from its first Palatine location at 25 W. Palatine Road, in a historic Palatine building. Read more about the opening here.

Our name comes from the family homestead shown below.

The businesses not only offer personal and home accessories – including small furniture, custom floral arrangements, artwork, candles –  but also in-home design consulting to help freshen up design and décor for the office, business, home, or second home. Vicki personally provides these services for a nominal fee, which is then applied toward any and all purchases.
Both John and Vicki pride themselves on their high-level of customer service, and the true value of getting to know their clients – who have in some cases been patronizing the business for more than a dozen years.
In addition to the wide selection of home accessories, Harrington Manor also sells women’s accessories, such as jewelry, scarves, handbags, and unique clothing items.
Among the notable lines carried at the shop are Nora Fleming, Uttermost, Periwinkle Jewelry, Flameless Candles, Mixture, Aromatique, Byers Carolers and Ginger Cottages for Christmastime.
Starting in October each year, the business will be open seven days a week to accommodate busy schedules and holiday time decorating.
